Cogen Power Technologies is managed by a group with extensive experience in energy management, procurement, engineering, and systems design to offer comprehensive services for the planning, design and implementation of cogeneration and district energy systems.

 

Cogen Power Technologies’ organizational structure is set up to ensure the successful implementation of the System Engineers design, while leveraging the value engineering ideas of the various project subcontractors.

John Moynihan – Managing Partner

John Moynihan has over 20 years of experience in energy management, procurement, and systems design. As Managing Director, he is responsible for business development, operations, and technical oversight of all cogeneration/CHP projects at Cogen.

 

Mr. Moynihan’s role is split between working with the Customer in the feasibility and project development phase to size the CHP plant to meet their financial, operational, and community needs; and then ensuring these are successfully implemented before turning the project over to the customer. Mr. Moynihan’s expertise is in the resolution of highly technical electrical issues associated with interconnecting the Customer’s new CHP Plant and the local Utilities electrical distribution system.

 

Recognized as an authority on the development of cogeneration systems and microgrids, Mr. Moynihan has been invited to speak and give seminars to many organizations and community groups including the International District Energy Association; Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities; and The Healthcare Association of New York State.

Mr. Moynihan has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

Peter Richardson – Mechanical Systems Manager

Peter Richardson has over 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering, managing large steam and gas turbines installations and overhauls, and operation of power plant systems and combined heat and power projects.

Mr. Richardson’s expertise is in the successful, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and turnover of large mechanical equipment (turbines, HRSGs, chillers, etc) as he works with the Mechanical Design Engineers and Mechanical subcontractors. Mr. Richardson is also the Plant Manager for Cogen’s 3.6 MW CHP Project located in Utica, NY.

Mr. Richardson has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union Graduate College.

 

 

John Daley – Electrical Systems Manager

John Daley has over 13 years of experience in electrical engineering and combined heat and power projects, and has a background in the commissioning of mission critical facilities and development of nuclear reactor and electric power distribution instrumentation and control systems.

Mr. Daley works with the Electrical Design Engineers and Electrical subcontractors to successfully design and implement the very complex CHP electrical equipment, systems, and protection needed to safely connect to the local Utility distribution system. Mr. Daley is the Team’s lead on all Commissioning Related activities and represents the Design Team with the 3rd Party Commissioning Agent.

Mr. Daley has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Union College and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Union Graduate College.
